Online Copywriting

Writing online copy is very different to writing for print insomuch as what you're hoping to achieve is different and the audiences' reasons and way of reading is completely different.

 

Most important to remember is that the reader's attention span is shorter on the web, so you need to get to the point quicker or at the very least keep them engaged. Really good online copy will not only drive people toward the response you're looking for, but is a fundamental tool in search engine optimisation.

 

Offline Copywriting

Offline copywriting tends to take two forms - the long and the short. The long form of offline copywriting would be things like case studies, newsletters, direct mailing and press releases, the key to all of which that it has to have some value. People need to want to read it, hopefully keep it and even pass it on to other people.

 

The short form of offline copywriting will be things like slogans, headlines and advertising copy. With these you'll often have only a few words to get the message across.
